Ever find yourself reacting in ways you know were Ever find yourself reacting in ways you know were *wrong* only to feel bad about it later? Hiiiii, welcome to my world💁‍♀️💁‍♀️ I used to have A LOT of those moments too! I thought it was part of who I was or that something was wrong with me But as it turns out it was really just the lack of tools & knowledge in how to grow beyond these points Imagine my relief! 🥵 One day I told my daughter I was going to start on supper + invited her to join me, she ran off to her room instead while I went to the kitchen I was busy cutting up vegetables + she started yelling at me from her room wanting something *insert frustration here* This had been an ongoing conversation "if you're in another room, I don't like being yelled at" I had responded back to her "I'm in the kitchen, if you want something come out here please!" We went back + forth a couple times "I don't like being yelled at, if you want something come out here + speak to me please" I'd yell back at her (yes, hindsight I can see the irony 🙃) Finally I had it I stomped down the hallway into her room "I told you to QUIT yelling at me, if you want something you come speak to me in the room I'm in!" She starts to cry At first thinking "well, I told you.." Then I'm thinking, fck🤦🏻‍♀️ I acknowledged that we were both feeling dysregulated + offered to sit down together + regulate. So we found our calm I said "I'm sorry for raising my voice + speaking to you that way. Here is what I'd like to see next time; I'd see myself taking a nice big deep breath as soon as I notice I'm feeling frustrated before coming to talk to you so I can speak to you more calmly. I'd also appreciate if you could not yell at me, I don't like being yelled at" "OK mama." She's off back to her room +I'm in the kitchen 2 mins later"MAMA!!! COME HERE" *you've got to be fcking kidding* I take a couple deep breathes, walk down there "hunny, I don't like being yelled at. If you want to speak to me, I'd prefer you come into the kitchen + talk to me calmly" "OK mama" grabs my hand, walks me to the kitchen+ says "can you grab a book I can't reach please?" We walked back together+ grabbed the book 🥺

Get this 👀 It's not something you are conscio Get this 👀 It's not something you are consciously choosing.. I'm pretty sure if you could choose, you'd be choosing something different So it's really not sabotage coming from Self, from who it is you truly are.... It's something unconscious, behind the scenes An automatic response I response happening BEFORE you have any conscious choice over the matter There is a unconscious and conscious disconnect What you consciously desire no longer fits what has been the unconscious programming So update the unconscious programming 🤷🏻‍♀️ A younger part of you who is finding comfort in old patterns Anytime an emotional response shows up around said behavior, she's showing up Self regulate Probably will be after the fact at first The guilt/shame, the disappointment of having done whatever it was you did, frustration Self regulating in those moments is like you're meeting that younger part of you who had developed a means of connecting in the only way she knew how Except by regulating in those moments, you're helping her actually connect back to Self When we create space for these buried parts of us when they show up We shower them with love + understanding to the point we catch it sooner and sooner to where we actually stop "Self sabotaging" We begin to create a conscious and unconscious connection Where what we consciously desire now fits what is now the unconscious programming 🪄 #motherhood #cyclebreaker #innerchildhealing #innerchild #shadowwork #shadowhealingjourney #copingskills #copingmechanism #generationaltrauma #traumaresponses #emotionalregulation

Sometimes it can be easy to not hear that little v Sometimes it can be easy to not hear that little voice.. But how often do we hear that little voice and instead choose something different because it doesn't make sense to someone else? I've realized that I don't want to be busy chasing down more of the "my heart feels at home here" moments, I don't want to be chasing anything at all. I'd rather "my heart feels at home" is just part of who I am, not a moment outside of me but within me. Where it becomes a ripple of my being in the simplest of moments Last week after our hike we found ourselves at a restaurant for supper It wasn't our first place we planned to go, but that's where we found ourselves "We don't have room unless you're OK sitting in the private dining area with live music" No problem Light turned to dark, food was taking forever... After awhile, I could tell Haedyn was entranced by the guy playing music.. so I asked "do you want to dance with me?" She looks around, there is no dance floor and nobody else is dancing "Sure" she says So I sweep her up into my arms and slow dance with her around our table Her little arms wrapped around me tight, giggling in my ear She pulls away for a moment only to come in with the big kiss and says "I love you mama" Time slowed down in that moment The lights dim. Her sweet eyes looking into mine. It was perfect. She wrapped her little arms around my neck and gave me a hug as we twirled A moment I will hold onto forever A moment where time slowed down and went by too fast simultaneously A moment where my heart felt at home A moment where it found me A moment where I listened to that little voice, the one that came before "but nobody else is dancing, everybody will be watching.." 🌱 I will follow that little voice anywhere if I get more moments like these🖤 #motherhood #cyclebreaker #innerchildhealing #generationaltrauma #motherhoodstruggles
